5.8% was the growth marked in the number of foreign tourists who visited Bulgaria during the period January- August 2013 in comparison to the same period of 2012. 6.4% was the growth in visits for holiday and vacation.
During the period January- August 2013 Bulgaria was visited by a total of 5,087,232 foreigners (excluding the transit passengers). Their number was with 5.8% greater than that during the same period in 2012.
There was an increase in the visits for rest and vacation with 3,805,369 visits made and growth of 6.4 % and the visits as guests - 141,404 in all – were with 24.9% more this year. There was, however, a drop in the visits for business. 662,657 visits were realized. This indicates a decline of 1.2%.
1 622 871 foreigners crossed Bulgaria as transit passengers. This was with 1.7% less in comparison to the same period the previous year.
The revenues from international tourism in the current account of the balance of payments for January-July 2013 according to data of BNB amounted to EUR 1 625.6 million, which was 3% up compared to the same period of 2012. The costs of Bulgarian citizens for trips abroad in January-July 2013 totaled EURO 635.94 million or they were with 13.6% greater than in 2012.
