Wine festival with wrestling contest, open to the public. February 1 is the day when local people start the spring pruning of the vines and visit the St. Trifon chapel. The festival also features amateur wrestling matches, to the accompaniment of drums.

Jars of fiery honey on St. Haralambos day at the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin church in Blagoevgrad. When consecrated, honey is thought to possess curative and magical powers.
Trifon Zarezan – 14 February, 2014
Vine growers’ day. Trifon Zarezan is connected with vineyards and the making of rakia and wine. The day is celebrated throughout the country, notably in Veliki Preslav with a Wine Festival, in Hissarya with wine tasting, in Brestovitsa where vines are pruned and wine is tasted, in Souhindol, Soungourlare and other towns and villages.
