Bulgarian tour operators are establishing a consortium to promote shared tours on the Balkans
16.10.2014

A consortium Go to the Balkans is established, which will promote shared tours on the Balkans among the foreign tour operators. The idea is the big tourist companies from Asia, America and Europe to get acquainted with the possibilities for tourism in Bulgaria in combination with other Balkan countries - Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia, Turkey, Montenegro and Croatia. This is going to happen on November 26th in Sofia where the first B2B (business to business) tourism forum of the countries from the Balkan Region will be held.

The idea for this event, the organization and financing are of companies - members of the Association of Bulgarian Tour Operators and Travel Agents which intend to give start to the Go to the Balkans Consortium. Tour operators in Western Europe and America prefer not to offer routes in one of the Balkan countries only but to combine two or three countries instead. Guests from France and Italy do in fact combine Bulgaria and Romania. "So far our country is included in the combined packages not as a starting point and this needs to be changed", said Bayko Bajkov, Chairman of ABTTA. "In recent years the Bulgarians have given an example that combined tours on the Balkans are a successful product", he added.
