Bansko will host once again the World Ski Cup
The small town, which was declared as the winter capital of the Balkans in 2011, can also be referred to as a mini capital of Bulgarian traditions, delicious cuisine, folk traditions, cultural and historic heritage.
One of the biggest winter resorts in Bulgaria is situated 150 km from Sofia and is known among tourists from all over Europe as an excellent and affordable destination for skiers and snowboarders. The highest point of the skiing center is 2560 m, and the lowest - 1000 m above sea level. There are 75 km of ski tracks, 35% of which are for beginners, 40% for advanced skiers and 25% for experienced skiers and snowboarders. The ski season is guaranteed from December to May thanks to the 170 snow cannons and piste preparation machines available that can cover 80% of the tracks. This explains why in the spring of 2014 giant slalom races for men and women from the calendar of FIS in 2014 were held in Bansko.
