Bulgaria ranks fourth in EU in winter tourism growth
02.10.2013

Bulgaria ranks fourth among the EU member countries in growth (4.7%) of winter tourism, according to Eurostat data for the 2012/2013 tourist season. Over 3.3 million overnight accommodations have been reported in the Bulgarian ski resorts - Pamporovo, Borovets, Bansko, Chepelare, etc. for the last season. Behind Bulgaria in the rankings remain countries with proven tourist traditions in winter tourism - Latvia, Norway, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Poland.
One of the main advantages of the Bulgarian resorts is the competitive price, but if you book your holidays for the new season in the next few weeks, you can save further 15-25% of the costs, if you choose Bansko, for example.
Eurostat statistics show that the highest percentage of winter sports fans did spend their vacation in Bulgaria in February. If you are planning your winter holidays for the same time next year, you may watch the race for the European Alpine Ski Cup for men in Borovets. The competitions in the Rila Mountain will be on February 15th (giant slalom) and February 16th (slalom) in 2013. The best alpine skiers in the world are expected to take part in them, just a week before the slalom scheduled in the program of the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
