Batak

The Batak Dam resort is located at a distance of about 8 kilometers from the town of Batak and 24 kilometers from Velingrad. The resort lies on the shore of the Batak Dam in Tsigov Chark area, on an average attitude of 900 – 1,100 meters.
The climate here, up to 1,000 meters above the sea level, is transitional continental, and the highland and alpine areas are under the mountainous climate. The snow in winter lasts from 2 to 5 months.
Batak Dam is famous among fishermen as a wonderful fishing destination. The immediate proximity of the resort to the hills of Golyama Syutkya peak (2,186 meters above the sea level) in the Rhodope mountains offers good hiking opportunities. The lake offers various water sports practicing – water wheel riding, boating, jet skiing, etc. There are several hunting grounds on the territory of Batak Municipality, which develop hunting tourism as well.
During the winter season, the Batak Dam is an attractive place for admirers of the winter sports. The resort offers a ski track, 1,500 meters long. The lower part of the track is inclined and is suitable for beginners. It is equipped with two rope lifts with handles. The upper part of the slope is steeper; it is equipped with a tow lift. There is a ski cloakroom available for tourists.
There are many hotels, villas and family hotels on the territory of Batak Dam. The towns of Batak, Velingrad, and Peshtera are situated in the vicinity and offer many cultural and historical landmarks.

To reach the resort, travel northwest from the town of Batak and follow the board signs. The resort is located at a distance of about 8 kilometers from the town along a nice road.
