Semkovo

The Semkovo Resort is in the Rila Mountains, at an altitude of 1,600 meters above sea level, 17 km from the city of Belitsa. It was declared a nationally recognized resort and important location in 1976.
The climate is Mediterranean, influenced the resort’s location in the mountains. The average yearly temperature is between 7.5 and 9.5 degrees Centigrade. The average temperature in July is between 18 and 25 degrees Centigrade. August is the region’s hottest month.
There are a number of possibilities for overnight accommodations in Semkovo – hotels, bungalows, villas, and shelters. The Semkovo Shelter is located in the mountains above the resort, at an altitude of 1,750 meters above sea level.
There are four ecological trails in the Semkovo region: The “Nature the Eternal Temple” Trail, The “Marshland Glory” Trail The “Glacier Traces” Trail, and The “Lord of the Mountains” Trail. Marked trails lead hikers to the Vapsko Circus and Lakes, The Polezhano (Recumbant) Circus and Suho (Dry) Lake, The Skalishko (Cliffs) Circus and Lake, The Chernopolyansko (Black Earth Fields) Circus and Lake, and the Macedonia Shelter.
One of the most interesting places in the region is the Dancing Bears Park (protected bear habitat) in Belitsa. The Semkovo region also offers trails for mountain biking of varying lengths and difficulty.
Semkovo is a ski resort with eight runs served by eight lifts, with a total trail length of 4 km.
